Patrick MEDERIC is borned the 29th March 1961 at Nancy (France).
Selt-taught and uncategorized, for just about long he can remember, he has always triturated materials.
His first sculpture, about thirty years ago, was made in bread crumbs.
he gave up day job to devote to his art in 1993.
He is qualifying himself as a handyman; always on a quest to find new process to build his sculptures.
His raw materials are often materials of encounters that he likes to work in his own way.
His inspirations are intuitive and multiple.
He like working materials differently, for that, he invents new technicals.
For Driftwood series, he started for a metal structure on which he works pieces of wood
from different species, shaped naturally by the water.
Each pièce is cut out and interlocked in the previous one, same as a gigantic 3D puzzle.
The pieces of wood are fixed on the structure by welding, a unique process invented by the artist.
he has always been fascinated by the movement, the big difficulty for the large format sculpture, is their weight. For a perfect stability, we nee four support points on the floor. Express movement with this constraint is each time a true Challenge!
Several projects are in progress for the Driftwood series, large format sculptures: a camel, a buffalo, a rhinoceros, should come into being.
In the same time, a new series starts, with sculptures totally different because entirely in metal (wrought-iron and sometimes copper)
After a life-size Cheetah in metal, two medium format spiders (female and male), new sculptures are now under way...
